Abstract
A type of composite metamaterials (CMMs) with unique configurations is demonstrated and the transmission properties performed in free space exhibit a pass band at about 8.5 GHz.Simulations with lateral displacement of Gaussian beam transmitted through parallelogramβshaped medium are realized, which can demonstrate the negative refraction index. Further, transmission spectrum of wires alone, split ring resonators alone, and CMMs with varied spacing along magnetic field direction are measured in our experiments. Experimental results and simulated results are in good agreements. With the spacing increased, the pass band drifts to lower frequency which can be applied in tunable metamaterials devices.
