โฆ Synopsis
environment administered by the states with minimal federal oversight.
The managed care environment is changing rapidly as evidenced in the way alliances are developed, contracts are negotiated and how care is given. Employers want to keep costs down, and contracts are negotiated with providers for the most favorable cost plan. The issue of how to pay for and deliver health care has become a national crisis.
The American Cancer Society, California Division, organized the Managed Health Care Conference to gain information and to increase their understanding of the burgeoning managed care environment, its philosophies and activities and to explore its role as an advocate for public health and the cancer patient in this changing health care environment. As a result, an action agenda was developed to meet the needs of the American Cancer Society's constituents.
