## Abstract It is shown that in a system of ortho‐ and para‐excitons two ortho‐excitons with total spin __S__ = 0 interact attractively and biexcitons can be formed. The interaction potential of two ortho‐excitons is approximated by a generalized Morse potential depending on the electron—hole mass
