✦ Synopsis
The energy and intensity of esciton transitions with k parallel to the UJlO! direction have been cnlculoled using boson theory and intermolecular interactions obtained by resxling the lattice sums of Silbcy, Jortner and Rice. Compclrison with the reflecrion espcrimznts of Koch and Otto shows substmtiall~ better agreement than given by dipole theory.
