β¦ Synopsis
Luminescence decay curves from undoped crystals of CsMnCla, RbMnCls, RbzMnCl4 and CsMnBrs fit kinetics derived for processes with first-and second-order components. The second-order effects which depend directly on excitation intensity are attributed to exciton annihilation. In contrast, decay curves from crystals of (CH&NMnCls and (CH&NMnBrs where exciton migration is one dimensional show no evidence for annihilation.
