✦ Synopsis

The excited states of lin~onenc are discussed in rhc light of vacuum-UV absorption, VUVCD and photoelectron spectroscopy measurements. Only one A-+ X* transition arising from the double bond of the ring is observed. The CD sign of the rr --f rr* transition does not obey the octant rule formulated for chiral olefins.
