✦ Synopsis

An anisotropic rutile prism with a high index of refraction was used to excite surface plasmon oscillations at an interface of anisotropic dielectric and metallic media. The phase-matching condition for exciting surface plasmon oscillations was deduced, the effects of anisotropy were discussed.
