✦ Synopsis
The excitation functions for the reactions l~Ce(d, p)143Ce, 142Ce(d, n)l*sPr, l*2Ce(d, 2n)142Pr and ~42Ce(d, u)~°La have been measured radiochemically up to a deuteron energy of 14.2 MeV. The results were well explained with a modified Peaslee theory on deuteron reactions, in which a new parameter, "entire absorption", was introduced. The figures, which show quantitatively the contributions of the stripping and the entire absorption process for each reaction, and the contributions of the n-stripping, the p-stripping and the entire absorption process for the a~2Ce+d interaction, were given. In the course of the experiment the half-life of ~4~Pr was determined to be 19.14+0.05 h. NUCLEAR REACTIONS 142Ce(d, p), (d, n), (d, u), (d, 2n), E ~ 14.2 MeV; measured a(E). Deduced contributions of stripping and entire absorption. Natural target. RADIOACTIVITY x42Pr [from 142Ce(d, 2n)]; measured T.~. Natural target.
