โœฆ Synopsis


A model calculation for the exchange splitting is performed within the T-matrix approximation,~in relation to the experiments of valence-band photoemission in nickel which show a large discrepancy between Eox and Eex. Here Eox is the observed exchange splitting deduced from a quasiparticle energy lying near the Fermi level, and Eex the corresponding one from the band calculation. According to our previous work, the discrepancy between Eex and Eex at the top of the band essentially comes from the difference between the self-energy there and at the Fermi level. It is found that a calculated result for the discrepancy between Eex and /~ex is in qualitative agreement with experiments and that the interatomic interaction makes saturated ferromagnetism favourable in agreement with experiment.
