β¦ Synopsis
Impedance spectra are reported for PVC based membranes containing KBPh, + valinomycin in contact with aqueous solutions of (a) 1O-2 M KCI, (b) lo-' M LiCl and (c) lo-' M NaCl. In the KCl case there is evidence for the rapid exchange of K* between the membrane phase and the aqueous solution. For LiCl the interface is completely blocking at low frequencies indicating no ion exchange of the sort Li+(W) +K+(M)+ Li +(M) + K+(W). For NaCI an intermediate type of behaviour is found.
