Abstract
An expression is obtained for the excess solute atmosphere carried by a potential well characteristic of a dislocation core and moving at constant velocity in a solid solution. The results agree with the predictions of the dissipation theorem at limiting low values of the velocity. Results for all velocities are presented which can be interrelated with the drag force exerted by the excess solute on the well through the Einstein mobility relation.
