✦ Synopsis
A new approach to an estimation of strain distribution in a lattice with point defects using IR spectroscopy has been theoretltally proposed and experimentally confirmed. The interpretation ofexperimentaldata is based on the assumption that thespectral band broadenings caused by strain and by other factors are mutually independent, the band shift being linearly dependent on the strain. In this case, the problem ofdetermination of strain distribution reduces to an integral equation for the distribution density. Distribution functions calculated from the spectra for homogeneous carbonates Fe:+ Ca, _,CO, (2 < 0.15) are in agreement with theoretical ones calculated in the framework of elasticity theory.
