By employing a nonlinear three-mode model, we study the band structure of Bose-Einstein condensates in Fourier-Synthesized optical lattices, where the nonlinearity comes from the mean field treatment of interaction between atoms. In linear case, we present the band structure of the system. It is dem

✦ Synopsis
In light of the recent experimental observation of Bose-Einstein condensates held in 1D, 2D and 3D optical lattice potentials, we derive several families of exact solutions of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation from some balance conditions between the optical potentials and interaction energies. The exact solutions in same dimension possess same norm but di erent phases, which describe the condensed atoms with same spatial distribution and average number of atoms per well but di erent transport velocities and atomic current densities.

We consider a rotating Bose-Einstein condensate in an optical lattice in the regime in which the system Hamiltonian can be mapped onto a Josephson junction array. In an approximate scheme where the couplings are assumed uniform, the ground state energy is formulated in terms of the vortex configurat
In this short review we present our recent results concerning the rotation of atomic Bose-Einstein condensates confined in quadratic or quartic potentials, and give an overview of the field. We first describe the procedure used to set an atomic gas in rotation and briefly discuss the physics of cond
The kinetics of nonequilibrium Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC) are considered within the framework of the Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equation. A systematic derivation is given for weak small-scale perturbations of a steady confined condensate state. This approach combines a wavepacket WKB description wit
