Abstract
The main aim of the article is to show the evolution of the human approach to work and technology in various developmental periods of technological civilization, and hence to stress the need to initiate conscious and purposeful actions targeted at humanizing technology in modern days. An integral part of engineering knowledge must also be knowledge about humans as users of technological products. Ignoring this part will definitely incur economic and cultural losses. To this effect, a new humanβcentered paradigm of evaluating technology was developed. As a relatively young and interdisciplinary branch of science, ergonomics offers both methodological and scientific support for humanization of engineering actions in the field of theory and practice of design, performance, and management.
