Ten polycrystalline samples in the isostructural series CePtxSi (0.7 <\_ x \_< 1.0) have been synthesized and studied by magnetization measurements and transport experiments. The stoichiometric compound CePtSi, which crystallizes in the LaPtSi-type structure (I41md), has been shown to be a heavy fer
