β¦ Synopsis
Differences h the 2~,,~--2p~,2 energy separation have been observed between diamagnetic and paramagnetic transition metal ion complescs. These differences are interpreted in terms of the cschange splitting of the lines by the unpaired valence electrons in the case of the paramagnetic compleses.
