✦ Synopsis

Collision lifetimes Tc have been calculated numerically for ion-molecule colliaons. Dipoles cause multiple reflections leading to Tc values much ionger than specular reflection periods. Langevin collisions yield simple specuIar reflections. The interaction has besn studied via a computer-plotter system.

There is considerable precedent for ion/molecule complexes as intermediates in unimolecular reactions of gaseous cations. For reviews, see [3].
