✦ Synopsis
Abstract
From theoretical considerations, three types of coherent excitations of biological systems have been suggested: (i) vibrations of membranes and of proteins with frequencies above 10^9^ Hz; (ii) near static excitation of a highly polar metastable state; and (iii) low frequency periodic enzyme reactions. Recent experimental evidence is discussed.
