Sága pokračuje ve vyprávění o tom, jak se náš svět prolíná se světem moře Podstaty, jeho podivuhodnými, často zlověstnými místy i bytostmi, a tento fantastický svět nabízí britskému autorovi obrovské plátno, aby ho pomaloval pestrou změtí Boschových obrazů. Představy Cliva Barkera jsou dokonale ucelené.
