## Abstract To evaluate the risk of a disease associated with the joint effects of genetic susceptibility and environmental exposures, epidemiologic researchers often test for non‐multiplicative gene‐environment effects from case‐control studies. In this article, we present a comparative study of f

✦ Synopsis
Studies of event shape observables at PETRA and LEP energies are presented. Previously published determinations of the strong coupling constant a, at fi = 35 and 44 GeV are complemented using new resummed QCD calculations for the C parameter and improved calculations for the jet broadening variables BT and Bw which recently became available. Furthermore, recently predicted power corrections to the differential distributions of these observables are investigated. In this study, e + -e data between fi = 35 and 183 GeV are considered.
