✦ Synopsis

A method is developed and tested for calculation of overlap matrix elements of the form ~g ( x) ~( x)), where 4~, is a one-dimensional oscillator eigenfunction calculated using the transformation method. The HEG approximation is used to write these integrals in terms of g(x~),where is an eigenvalue of the x-matrix. The method is shown to be highly accurate for several test functions, g(x). Application of this method to the evaluation of overlap matrix elements in multi-coupled oscillator systems is discussed.

The sampling method is a well known method for evaluating Fourier transforms. Since the conditions imposed by the sampling theorem cannot, generally, be satisfied exactly when one is dealing with experimental responses and signals, a number of authors have used weighted sampling methods which reduce
