✦ Synopsis

Coupled measurements of birefringence and IR dichroism of drawn films of vinyl alcohol-ethylene copolymers have led to a value of around 46Њ for the angle a between the dipole moment vector of the IR band at 610 cm 01 and the chain axis. The increase of the second moment of the orientation function is well fitted to the pseudoaffine scheme of deformation.

Near-infrared (NIR) diffuse reflectance spectra have been measured by use of a rotating drawer for pellets of 12 kinds of ethylene/vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymers with vinyl acetate (VA, the comonomer) varying in the 7-44 wt % range. They are unambiguously discriminated from one another by a score pl

Capitalizing on the superior sensitivity of proton NMR, relatively rapid estimates of three parameters, namely, comonomer content, crystallinity, and long spacing, are determined for three ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymers using solid-state proton NMR measurements. Multiple-pulse techniques are util
