โœฆ Synopsis

glycerol 40 g/l ethanol, yeast mass 30 g DW/l ethanol, organic acids 10 g/l ethanol). CO 2 and yeast can be separated and sold.

Energy use is low (only for centrifugation and pumping) as well as water use is also low due to the heat integration with the condensers in distillation and use of closed circuits with cooling towers. The main residue of ethanol production is the vinasse that is rich in potassium, 100% recycled to the sugarcane fields as ferti-irrigation.

These characteristics make this process a model for other industrial fermentation with much higher processing costs.
