โฆ Synopsis
A method is presented of evaluating the kinetic parameters for the ignition reaction of coal based on the Semenov's thermal ignition theory adopted to coal particle ignition. The evaluated apparent activation energy, E, for bituminous coal, anthracite and bituminous coal char are in the range 46-103 kJ mol-'.
A verification was made by comparing the measured induction periods for the coal particles with those calculated numerically. The oxidation rate is controlled by diffusion into pores.

A new viewpoint is presented that the activation energy, E, is independent of coal type and only varies with the temperature of particle, but the frequency factor of coal char, ko. oh, varies with coal type. We have determined that E = 152 kJ/mol (36.3 kcal/mol), which is a constant in oxidation of
The reported combustion kinetics of pulverized coal from two types of experiments are compared: the first from measured rates of burnout at particle temperatures of 900-2200K and the second from an analysis based on the minimum gas temperatures at which coal ignites, corresponding to particle temper
