information suficient to permit control of a crystallization process can be obtained through a minimal information set of specific mass and specific area. Statistical techniques were used to allow the continuous size distribution (CSD) over the range of interest to be represented by a discrete size distribution (DSD). The 95 % confidence region for all possible sets of DSDs was derived and the ellipse of concentration was used to determine which DSD corresponded to the CSD. The statistical approach presented may find applicability to other dispersed systems.
