Abstract
We evaluated patient satisfaction and acceptability of the new Novopen II, which takes preβmixed insulin cartridges (Actraphane). In addition an attempt was made to measure changes in βquality of lifeβ. A quality of life questionnaire was devised which proved to have satisfactory test reβtest reliability. Subjects showed no significant differences following a three months trial of Novopen II compared to a control group. Although 67% of patients found the device easy to use, only half found it more convenient than conventional syringes. The results suggest although more convenient for half the subjects, Novopen II did not markedly alter the quality of their life.
