P magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) was performed in vivo on normal and ischemic rat intestine. Within 3 min after induction of ischemia, there is a dramatic fall in adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and rise in inorganic phosphate (Pi). Our results suggest that MRS may prove useful in the early dete
