✦ Synopsis

Energy storage is one of the key technologies for energy conservation and therefore is of great practical importance. One of its main advantages is that it is best suited for solar thermal applications. This study deals with a comprehensive discussion of the evaluation and the selection of sensible and latent heat storage technologies, systems and applications in the "eld of solar energy. Several issues relating to energy storage are examined from the current perspective. In addition, some criteria, techniques, recommendations, checklists on the selection, implementation and operation of energy storage systems are provided for the use of energy engineers, scientists and policy makers.
