✦ Synopsis
The application of the existing reliability modelling and evaluation techniques to electrical power supply facilities in industrial plants needs further improvement because the complete system behaviour and operating procedures are not fully reflected in the techniques. These characteristics mainly concern the existence of critical loads, the load disconnection procedure following failure events and the available alternative operating procedures for load restoration such as stand-by and emergency generating facilities. The paper presents extended techniques which simulate the operating features of industrial power systems efficiently and evaluate the additional load supplied after each operational stage and the reliability indices of each load point of interest. The analysis of a typical industrial power system is also included.
