An inverse non-linear force vibration problem based on the iterative regularization method, i.e., the conjugate gradient method (CGM), is used to estimate the unknown time-dependent external forces in a damped system having time-dependent system parameters by using the measured system displacement.

β¦ Synopsis
In this paper we develop a convergence theory for estimating time dependent parameters in a general class of parabolic system. We apply this theory to several problems of interest, such as estimating transport and biodegradation parameters in a contaminant transport model and the stiffness coefficient in an EulerαBernoulli beam equation.
