Food is the main source of mercury in nonoccupationally exposed population. The use of mercury in industry and agriculture is related to its presence in foods [ 1-31, Therefore, the World Health Organization has recommended dietary intake studies of heavy metals [4]. In the present article we inform about the estimated quantities of mercury which may be consumed by 2500 university students from the City of Havana.
