✦ Synopsis

In the present paper, the suitability of the correlation developed by Erbs et al. (1983) for estimating hourly average values of the ambient air temperature from its daily averages has been examined for India. The study indicates that the correlation needs modification. In this regard, the data for hourly values of the ambient air temperature for 47 locations in India have been analysed and modified correlations obtained.
