✦ Synopsis

A model for estimating soil water content on native rangeland was tested at Sidney, Montana. Based on the Penman combination method for estimating potential ET, the model includes factors to account for crop development, limiting soil water content, and increased evaporation after rain. The model gave reasonable estimates of actual soil water conditions within a 155f limit suggested as being practical for rangeland management purposes.
