โฆ Synopsis
ANDERSON and POSPAHALA (1870) investigated the estimation of wildlife population size using the belt or line transect sampling method and devised a correction for bias, thus leading to a class of estimators with desirable characteristics. This work was given a basic and rigorous mathematice framework by BURNHAM and ANDERSON (1970). I n the present article we use this mathematical framework to develop an estimator of population size and density using weighted least squares. The approach is a two-stage method.

## Abstract This article proposes a simple approach for reducing the bias of the traditional histogram estimator using line transect sampling. The approach uses the bias correction technique, which produces a new estimator for density of objects __D__. The proposed estimator reduces the bias from O
