An attempt is made to estimate the yield strength changes due to dislocation pinning and internal stress relaxation during aging of a ferrite-martensite dual-phase steel. Dislocation pinning accounts ]'or an increase in yield strength of 46 +_ 11 MPa and relaxation of residual transformation stresses in the ferrite matrix account ]'or a further increase of 55+_ 11 MPa. This compares favourably with earlier experimental observations.
