Revious studies [f ,2] demonstrated that nitrous. oxide was dissociated into its elements when contacted with ultraviolet irradiated magnesium oxide. ESR spectroscopy has provided good evidence on the formation of O-species. Ten& et al. [l] have reported that this radical reacts readily with oxygen at 298°K to give a complex assigned to the ozonide ion O$. This paper presents evidence that O-is highly reactive even at low temperature and forms new species by reaction with 02, CO and ethylene.
