β¦ Synopsis
Oriented films of Cu(lI)-montmorillonite before and after adsorption of pyridine, glycine and p-alanine showed markedly orientationdependent ESR spectra. Complex formation of Cu(lI) ions with the adsorbates was indicated by changes in ESR parameters. The ESR spectra and parameters suzest that the complexes formed on the interlamellar surfaces of montmorillonite have planar or xxially e!ongated tetragonal structures and that the symmetry axes of the complexes are oriented perpendicularly to the aluminosilicate Iayers of the clay.

## Abstract A novel Schiff base derived from 2,4βdihydroxybenzaldehyde and tyrosine and its copper(II) complex have been synthesized and characterized. The composition of the complex is K[CuL]Β·H~2~O, where L=H~11~C~26~NO~5~. ESR spectra of the copper(II) complex were investigated at different tempe
