✦ Synopsis

ESR studies of KC1 single crystals doped with 160s(CNJ6 and X-irradiated at room temperature, show the presence of Os( CN)5C15-and Os( CN),Cl:-speaes, both stable at room temperature. Unpaired spin densities on the metal and the ligands are calculated from the experimental byperfine and superhyperfine interactions. With these data, a systematic comparison between osmium(I) and iridium( II) mono-and di-chlorinated pentacyanides is carried out and interpreted on the basis of l&and field theory
