โฆ Synopsis
Earlier ESR spectroscopy of CrCu, CrAg, and CrAu molecules in argon matrices at 4 K has been extended to MO and W. MoCu, MoAg, MoAu, WCu, WAg, and WAu are all found to have 'X ground states with zero-field splitting parameters, D, greater than about 2 cm-'. Hypertine and nuclear quadrupole (in molecules containing 19'Au) interactions were observed.

The Embedded Atom Method (EAM) is used to calculate the binding energy curvcs for heteronuclear diatomic molecules of Ni, Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag and Au. The EAM potentials for the homonuclear metals are modified using two-body potentials for the AB alloys developed by R. A. Johnson. The binding energy curve
