✦ Synopsis


By applying a microwave magnetic field parallel to an external magnetic field, the ESR spectra of isoquinoline, isoquinolinium, I-naphthol and I-naphtholate in their phosphorescent triplet states have been observed in ethanol at 77 K. The proton hyperfine structure in A.W5= f2 transitions has been observed in random rigid solutions. In all molecular species studied the a-proton hypertine splittings of the ionic forms are smaller than those of the corresponding neutrals.
