The mechanical properties of formcoke briquettes, produced in the laboratory, were studied to determine the effects of some key processing variables on the properties. The microstructural characteristics of the formcoke were correlated with the processing variables and the mechanical properties.

โฆ Synopsis
Letters to the Editor 191 zone, the existence of graphite crystallites was scarcely detected in the derived soot. For the reason why the carbon layers do not straighten out, it is convenient to imagine that the time mentioned above is too short to convert the imperfect arrangement in the carbon layer into the regular arrangement typical of graphite.

The electron spin resonance has been studied for a representative group of variously heat treated carbon blacks using a 3-cm spectrometer equipped with a variable temperature dewar in the cavity. X-ray measurements were made to determine the layer plane spacing and crystallite size. The results show
In conductive polymer compounds, the filler volume fraction at which a network of touching particles is formed is not a constant but depends on the manufacturing process. By applying three main features-particle-particle interaction, dynamics of agglomeration, and structure of agglomerates-which are
