✦ Synopsis
With the aid of e.s.r, and ENDOR spectroscopies, it is shown that the paramagnetic particles arising from adsorption of p-benzoquinone, chloranil, and fluoranil on thermally activated HY zeolite are, probably, the radical cations forming donor-acceptor complexes with Lewis acid sites. These quinones are believed to be useful as indicators in studies of redox active sites of solid acid catalysts.
