The publisher regrets that the following text was missing from p. 178 of the original article:
It is obvious from this relation that y1 will never equal y2 for arbitrary shifts Ah unless AP = 0 (i.e. PI = P2), and this pressure condition is satisfied only for plane parallel surfaces whose radii of curvature are infinite (flat surface). Therefore, for the case of curved surfaces, the position of the dividing surface affects the surface tension value.
The same reasoning may be applied for C,, C, and also other dividing surface properties like ~(~1, ucA) etc.
