โฆ Synopsis
The eight papers in this special issue on Ergonomics in Aviation were selected from 96 presented at the Third Biennial Symposium on Aviation Psychology held in Columbus, Ohio, in April 1985, sponsored by the Ohio State University's Aviation Psychology Laboratory and the USA Association of Aviation Psychologists. This symposium series focuses on the effects of technology on the roles and performance of ground and airborne operators in the aviation environment. It has received a great deal of international attention because of the importance of this research to aviation safety, because the scope of the research presented goes beyond aviation, and because there is no journal dedicated to the field of aviation psychology. It is hoped that this special issue of Applied Ergonomics will serve to focus attention on the special problems of the ergonomics specialists who are working to improve aviation safety and effectiveness.
