✦ Synopsis

Results of ergonomics investigations into the discomforts experienced by VDT operators in

Poland are discussed. The highest percentage of complaints from persons working with computers concern discomfort associated with eyesight, a smaller percentage complain of mental load, and next complain of muscutoskeletal pains. The investigations were conducted mainly by means of questionnaires. The paper identifies factors that should be taken into consideration when designing computer workstations.
