✦ Synopsis

This paper considers the question of the explicit dependence of the optimum detector performance on the TW (observation interval -signal spectral bandwidth) product of the signal detector. Sufficient conditions are derived under which detectors of transient signals and narrowband signals, having the same TW product, have the same index of detectability.
