Cationic polymerization of a seven-membered cyclic sulfite ( 7CS) was carried out with methyl trifluoromethanesulfonate as a catalyst in chlorobenzene. The final conversions of 7CS were 22, 41, 52, and 60% in the polymerizations at 25ΠC with the initial monomer concentrations of 3, 4, 5, and 6 M, re

β¦ Synopsis
One
-pot polymerization of polyimide from 3,3',4,4'-biphenyl tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BPDA) and 4,4'-oxydianiline (ODA) was examined. The equilibrium in the polyimide with water was examined in detail in p-chlorophenol solution during the polymerization. The equilibrium constant was expressed by log K = 1.50 + 1433 (l/T). The polymerization reaction is exothermic. The molecular weight increased with decrease of temperature.

Dendritic polyamides with polydispersity of 1.1-1.4 have been successfully prepared from trimesic acid, 5-aminoisophthalic acid, and 4-aminophenylpropionic acid as a core molecule, a dendron, and a spacer unit, respectively, with a one-pot procedure. This procedure involves successive activation of
