## Abstract Expression of different panels of latent gene transcripts is controlled by usage of three distinct Epstein‐Barr virus (EBV) nuclear antigen (EBNA) promoters (Wp, Cp, and Qp). EBV‐associated hemophagocytic syndrome, which is often a fatal disease and generally occurs after primary EBV in

Epstein-Barr virus associated antibody patterns
Dear Sir, Johansson et al. in their paper: ' I Epstein-Barr virus-associated antibody patterns. . . 11. Chronic lymphocytic leukemia and lymphocytic lymphoma ", state that the reactivity found in sera from patients with Iymphocytic lymphoma ( L L j was considerably and significantly higher than in the control sera . . . " (Int. J. Cancer, 8, [475][476][477][478][479][480][481][482][483][484][485][486] 1971). However, Table I of this paper shows that their control sera were very poorly matched with those of the patients in the important matter of age distribution. As a result, the authors' conclusions appear open to serious question. It is well known that the percentage of anti-EB V reactors in the general population increases with age (Henle and Henle,

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) has recently been identified in the tumor cells of patients with gastric carcinoma. ## Abstract Sera from 18 tonsillar carcinoma patients and from 18 matched control subjects were examined for the presence of antibodies to viral capsid antigen (VCA), early antigen (EA) and nuclear antigen (EBNA) of EB virus. Antibodies to all three antigens were found more frequently and in signif
We examined Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-specific antibodies in serum samples from 64 and 59 patients with EBV-positive and -negative gastric carcinomas, respectively, and 73 healthy controls using immunofluorescence assays.
