✦ Synopsis


High-valence osmium ions (OS'+ or 0s" ) were stabilized on CeOz and Th02, when the initially impregnated cluster OSCAR was decomposed under oxidizing conditions. This is in contrast to the formation of low-valence ions (OS'+ and 0~~') on Al,03. The presence of osmium on Ce02 and Th02 presumably modified their redox properties and created new centers for OF radical anion localiition.
