## Abstract Sulfur atom of the __trans, cis__โ€ and __trans, trans__โ€epoxides **1** of (Z)โ€3โ€arylideneโ€1โ€thioflavanones have been oxidized with dimethyldioxirane to afford the appropriate sulfoxides **2** and sulfones **3** depending on the amount of oxidant used.
